RYL Training
& Coaching Consultancy is passionate about
leadership and the empowerment and leadership
of our clients specifically those who are living
with the many challenges of HIV, disability and
long term health conditions.
We are determined to establish
what we consider to be our human rights as an
actualised reality in both our own lives and the
everyday lives of our clients.
Here at RYL training &
Coaching Consultancy we view leadership as a debate
and have a preference towards the Emotional Intelligent
Model of Leadership (Daniel Goleman) and in Principal
Centred Leadership ( Stephen R Covey) which are
both committed to and recognise human potential,
autonomy and empowerment.
It is currently
estimated that there are 33.0 million people infected
with HIV worldwide and a calmative total of 73.000
people living with HIV in the UK by the end of
June 2007 and more than 25 million people in the
world have died of AIDS. There are also approximately
10 million disabled people and people living with
long term health conditions in the UK.
It is, in the view of RYL Training & Coaching
Consultancy, the responsibility of the key organisations,
companies and professionals who are involved in
the challenge of HIV and the disability debate
to invest in and recognise the skills and potential
leadership contributions of disabled people and
people with long term health conditions.
By taking our leadership, people living with HIV,
disabled people and as people living with long
term health conditions demonstrate a level of
commitment and empowerment which inspires and
encourages others who are facing similar challenges.
The act of taking our leadership is an act of
great courage and integrity and will be paramount
in the continuing development of positive images
and role models within society.
As we continue to lead productive
lives and successfully manage our impairment or
long term health condition we will become accepted
and integrated within our local and wider communities
and society as a whole.
Our leadership as people living with HIV, disabled
people and as people who are living with long
term health conditions has many functions which
will form the foundations of equality and the
human rights of future generations.
RYL Training & Coaching
Consultancy supports and develops the leadership
skills of people living with HIV, disabled people
and people living with long-term health conditions
and aims to empower people to develop their position
as positive role models within society.
We believe that it is our duty to promote, champion
and encourage the leadership skills of the groups
we serve and it is to this endeavour that we are
developing a range of leadership and support system
training programmes and services which are specifically
designed for people living with HIV, disabled
people and people living with long term health
conditions.
In April 2007 RYL Training &
Coaching Consultancy initiated and developed a
six-week leadership programme specifically for
people living with HIV at ‘ Positive Place’
in southeast London. This is the first programme
of its kind to be developed within the UK.
RYL Training Consultancy has developed
a similar programme for volunteers for the former
‘United Kingdom Coalition of people living
with HIV’ (UKC) and is continuing to promote
and initiate a UK national leadership programme
for people living with HIV. In June 2008 Danny
West delivered a two day leadership programme
to members of ‘The Open Heart House’
in Dublin and addressed the ‘All Ireland
Gay Health Forum’ in relation to HIV and
leadership. In continuing to develop our
commitment to the leadership of people living
with HIV, Danny West is to return to
Ireland in October 2008 to deliver an 'Empowerment
and Assertiveness Training Programme for 'AIDS
West' in Galway and has also recently been invited
to address the 'Nordic HIV Conference' in November
2008 regarding Leadership, Coaching and HIV in
the Workplace.
RYL Training & Coaching Consultancy
has successfully delivered its coaching and facilitation
services in partnership with the former ‘Disabilities
Rights Commission Leadership Programme’
and is currently working in partnership with ‘RADAR’
throughout the UK in the delivery of a series
of national leadership forums.
